⚠️ Latest Travel Updates
UK Flight Rule Change
A temporary UK flight rule change could allow airlines to combine flights on routes where there are multiple services to the same destination on the same day. This is being introduced as a precaution to help reduce the risk of disruption linked to possible jet fuel supply pressures, although the government says there are currently no immediate fuel shortages affecting UK flights.
For passengers, this could mean being moved onto a different flight time or, in some cases, another carrier, rather than the original service running half-empty or being cancelled altogether. Most travellers are unlikely to be affected, but it is worth keeping a close eye on airline emails, app notifications and booking updates before departure.
Air-Holiday tip: avoid very tight connections, check your flight details regularly in the days before travel, pre-book flexible transfers where possible, and make sure your travel insurance is in place as soon as your holiday is booked.

🛡️ Don’t Automatically Buy Car Hire Insurance at the Desk
One of the biggest mistakes travellers make with car hire is saying yes to expensive excess insurance at the rental desk without checking alternatives first.
Even when basic insurance is included, many hire companies still leave you responsible for a large excess if the car is damaged, stolen, or involved in certain claims — sometimes well over £1,000. Rental desks often push their own top-up cover, but it can be far more expensive than arranging standalone excess insurance before you travel.
That’s why many travellers compare independent providers like BetterSafe before their trip instead. Standalone cover can often work out much cheaper and may include protection for things basic rental cover regularly excludes, such as:
• Tyres
• Wheels
• Windscreens and glass
• Lost or damaged keys
Always compare policies carefully and check:
• Excess limits
• What’s excluded
• Claim requirements
• Destination restrictions
A few minutes checking before you travel could save you a lot of money — and pressure — at the rental desk.
